Basic FActs
Knowledge of the basic facts in Math serves a student in the same manner as knowing their basic sight words for Reading. Mastering the basic facts will allow a student the ability to focus on the "how" of solving a problem, instead of being stuck on the computation. The students should have already mastered their addition facts with sums to 20, subtraction facts with differences from 20, and their multiplication facts to 10 x 10. This year we will continue to work on speed and accuracy with these facts and increase our multiplication facts to 12 x 12. We will begin to work on the division facts as well.
We will play games to practice the facts in class as well as use our fact triangles or flash cards. The Moby Max website also has fact practice.
